Pacu Jawi is a unique and fascinating tradition held in Tanah Datar Regency, West Sumatra, Indonesia. This tradition is held by farmers after the harvest is complete and before the start of the next planting season. Previously, Pacu Jawi was only held twice a year. However, with the shortening harvest cycle, this event can now be held more frequently. Pacu Jawi is held in various nagari (village or sub-district) in Tanah Datar Regency. The location of this event rotates between the nagari in the four districts that traditionally host Pacu Jawi: Sungai Tarab, Pariangan, Lima Kaum, and Rambatan.
